This is a longshot, but I am looking for some help for my colleagues.
At a small, community hospital in Brooklyn, NY. They don't get the attention other NY hospitals are getting. They don't have the same help. They have a massive lack of RT, Nurses, Techs, Phlebotomist (thread)
They lack so much PPE, they don't even have enough surgical masks to go around. The leadshiper/administration has dissolve. ICU/ER and medical floors are essentially being run by the residents. Attendings are far and few between, and only show up at the end of the day.
They have nearly a 0 percent successful extubation (vs the 10-30 percent nation wide). They don't have enough staff to run multiple codes at the same time.
My colleague have lost all support due to attendings being out on illness. And instead of being rehab residents, they are now forced into seeing medical patients- mainly COVID patients. (While other NY programs are having their rehab residents do Telehealth and online didactics)
They aren't getting the free shit from @Nike @Allbirds @wearfigs @UberEats PPR, Food, ee's etc because they are a bit deeper into Brooklyn, not a main hospital. The cheers you all do every night go unheard on these streets. I know this isn't a unique issue, but they need help too
It is a clear example of health care disparities we are all fighting for.
