Do you remember all the details of your life from one day ago? One or more years ago? No. Therefore, you don't need to remember everything from your previous lives either. So what part of you actually reincarnates? Let's start with what doesn't first.
Everything temporary and prone to change through time which is related to "You" (ego) will disappear eventually. That includes your memories which naturally fade away, and your concept/idea of yourself, built in life. If you are honourable, you will be remembered by your deeds.
However, there is a part of You which does reincarnate, simply because it always IS. It was never born, nor does it die. It is not a subject to time, or space. It is the sum of You (your ancestors and descendants) and it is simply the source of all life.
In the myths this source of immortality to which YOU (the hero/deity) come back to over and over again is represented by the tree of life, the golden apples which grow on it, the spring below it, a God/Goddess, animal or mythical creature, and so forth...The myths are about You.
They are riddles whose aim is to help you realise who You really are i.e. To help you overcome the fear of change and death, by understanding Your true nature, which is free and immortal. Despite the Sum being pure white light i.e. The sky father, biologically it is the placenta.
Yes. Because just as you are able to drink from the Source and realise your immortality, so the baby "drinks" the blood from the placenta (the ancestors). Blood = Fire = Gold = Light = Honour = Spirit = Memory = Enlightenment.
Call me a materialist, i dare you.
Since the source is the sum, then it must be composed of something. But what? From you and your family/tribe, as one kin. Individually, as your face and body is composed from all the various parts of your ancestors, so is your spirit. Talents, weaknesses, advantages, etc
Everything your ancestors were and did, from instincts to trauma, is reflected in you, consciously or not. Some characteristics and abilities survive because they were cultuvated, others disappear or sink in the unconscious, until they are revived by an outside trigger.
Such as a certain environment, lifestyle, myth, etc. They are the memories, so to speak. Even genes go recessive and reappear after some time. This fact alone is enough for one to understand that who you THINK you are is not who you REALLY are.
This is why our ancestors had Traditions i.e. A way to help their offspring reach the source of immortality (hence myths, tales & songs), and pass on what was valuable, good, useful (skills), honourable, etc. (=MEMORIES).
Pagan = Traditionalist (NOT the Evola/Guenon kind).
THEREFORE, the closer you are to the lifestyle of your ancestors, the closer you are to Yourself. This is why our forebears visited sacred places and performed the same rituals one generation after another. And this is what we should all do to honour the Gods = ourselves.
This is why the goal of all foreign invaders was, and still is, to cut our roots as deep as possible, so that you would be what they want, and not who you are. My aim however, and that of some around me is to help you remember.
