Every day I read how this crisis must make us radically rethink globalisation & eat *only* local food, as the terrible modern food system has clearly failed us.

Guys, amid a pandemic that caused global economic shut down, we freaked out coz loo roll ran low for a couple of weeks
Our food system, from the farmers and scientists, shelf stackers to truck drivers, has achieved an absolute bloody miracle, by ensuring a continuous, affordable, safe & adequate food supply with only minor disruptions.

A miracle achieved by hard work and ingenuity.
The idea that this is incontrovertible proof of a food system that has failed us is patently flipping crazy.

The kind of ‘let them eat cake’ crazy one can only get from a position of extreme privilege.

A privilege we get from...the modern global, food system.
Can things be even better?

Yep, they always can be.

Can we learn valuable lessons from this?

Absolutely.

Shall we go back to the food system of 100 years ago, which by every meaningful measure was FAR worse, coz of a loo roll shortage?

Have a reflect on it and think again
