$1200 is $1200 but it’s a one time payment and not NEARLY enough for low income families with no paychecks coming in and unpaid leave. not to mention the payment is a TAX CREDIT not free money handed out by the government. https://twitter.com/jayvsqua/status/1249003111722692611
like rly we’re supposed to be grateful????? $1,200 is an insult to families that barely survived on their income BEFORE this outbreak. families with at LEAST less than $30,000 income should receive a significantly higher amount than families that make $70,000 a year.
the government has trillions of dollars to hand out to bail out corporations like airline companies and to bail out Wall Street. if the government can waste 1.5 TRILLION DOLLARS on the stock market then they should be giving us way more than $1,200.
we do not owe the government a “thank you” for this. this is the absolute BARE MINIMUM they could do considering 17 MILLION Americans filed for unemployment within the last 4 weeks.
a lot of families DON’T have any emergency savings they can fall back on. rn people that rely solely on minimum wage jobs have to risk their lives everyday. if you have a savings account (and now have the luxury of paid leave) you are NOT living paycheck to paycheck.
a lot of people don’t fucking get it. this is happening to my family right before my very eyes and MANY OTHER FAMILIES it’s not like this information is coming out of nowhere and im making all of this up
it’s INSULTING when ppl tell ppl like us to appreciate our one time tax credit (or “free money” as some people like to call it) of $1,200 that is supposed to last us through the next 2+ months before everyone returns back to the us jobs.
that’s it end thread im just tired of people pretending that our government is doing an at least DECENT job of handling this crisis
