A Thread of Netflix recommendations:
1. Sense8
This series is highly underrated basically. This show shows empathy, love, and unity, as well as badass characters with great character development and it exposes to the richness and diversities of the cultures. Sadly, it was cancelled due to "budget constraints".
2. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
This is literally one of the funniest sitcoms I've ever watched. The humour is never forced, and I loved how everything falls naturally, and it also gives deep messages about important issues in our society.
3. Stranger Things
This show was highly underrated at first but the latest season sucked ngl. It makes me feel like there's an underlying propaganda in this show like how capitalism is good and communism is bad, when basically, our world is crumbling because of the capitalism.
4. A Series of Unfortunate Events
This was an enjoyable show to watch. Made me learn complex English words and at the same time, had fun with the aesthetics of the show. I loved the main characters, especially Violet since these kids outsmart adults all the time.
5. Agents of SHIELD
Well, this isn't a Netflix series but it's available on Netflix. At first I didn't like the first season but as the seasons progress, everything was increasingly good. It is linked to the MCU and it gives more depth to some characters found in Marvel movies.
6. Orphan Black
This series is mind-blowing. Tatiana Maslany's portrayal of different characters (of the clones) is literally everything. This is a sci-fi series for every bio nerd out there, this is for you. I love the plot twists, they always leave me breathless.
7. Narcos
This series is about Pablo Escobar and his drug cartel in Colombia (Seasons 1 & 2). He was one of the richest men in the '90s (as far as I can remember). This is one of the best series that I've watched but only watch if you don't have a faint heart.
8. Rick and Morty
This one is an adult (because of the cursing and sexual jokes) sci-fi cartoon. The plot is literally interesting and this is about an old scientist and his grandson explore worlds and basically do some shit that is stupid usually.
9. Black Mirror
This show mind-fucked me a lot especially when it was still a British series. Like, what were the writers thinking when they wrote the script for this (S01E01)? This can be watched in any order and my fave is Nosedive, Hated in the Nation and San Junipero.
10. BoJack Horseman
My emotions are all over the place when I watched this show, and I usually end up crying watching some episodes.
11. Altered Carbon
This is a futuristic dystopian series based from the novel. The series was about revolting against the idea of living a long life since humans have found to see the stars from other galaxies by preserving its consciousness in a stack but was used for long life.
12. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
One of my fave sitcoms. It's an easily consumable series because it's so lighthearted you can finish binge-watching this series in a week or less.
13. Young Justice
If you're into DC Comics, this series is for you. The characters are younger versions of the Justice League (Robin, Diana Troy or Wonder Girl, Aqualad, Beast Boy, Kid Flash and many more).
14. One Day at a Time
This series made me smile and made me cry. This is about a Cuban family living as an immigrant in the US. This show is so relatable since there are so many taboo topics that are not explored if you live in a conservative household. I love this show so much.
15. Russian Doll
This is about a woman who keeps dying and living and it's like a loop in multiple parallel universes.
16. The Umbrella Academy
So, the first few episodes are boring but as the plot thickens it becomes more interesting. It's about 7 kids born on October 1, 1989 and have special powers. I'm looking forward for its second season honestly.
17. Modern Family
The latest season is not yet up on Netflix but this series has a special place in my heart. I love all of the characters' growth in the series and how some of their attributes are wholly accepted. I love the humour, the characters, the production, everything.
18. Sex Education
This series is actually an important show that addresses female sexuality and orgasm, as well as being able to overcome hurdles when it comes to your acceptance of your sexuality. This is also very informative when it comes to practicing safe sex.
19. The Assassination of Gianni Versace
This is basically a story of how Gianni Versace was murdered by Anthony Cunanan, who suffered narcissism (as far as I can remember).
20. Pose
This series also has a special place in my heart. This series is about how black trans women created a community to protect themselves, and they're also the creators of ballroom. Also, this was set during a time where AIDS is still called GRIDS due to homophobia.
21. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
This show is chaotic for me and I personally love this show. I know a lot of people dislike Sabrina but she's 16, and teenagers don't make wise choices usually at their age. I love how powerful she is, and she has a lot of untapped potential.
22. Koi To Uso (Love and Lies)
This is an anime available on Netflix. I love this show because it makes my heart skip a beat. Basically, at the age of 16, two teenagers are arranged to be married based on their personal information and this anime shows two types of love.
23. Kakegurui
This one is so chaotic too and I love this show. The show is about students gambling in order to remain enrolled in the school or else you'll be come a social pariah.
24. Monthly Girls' Nozaki Kun
The main character in this anime confesses to her crush who is super dense and had no idea when it comes to love. This is so lighthearted and funny.
25. Shokugeki no Soma
Basically this is about Soma enrolled in a top elite cooking school and has to prove himself that he is good at cooking by challenging other students to food wars. I love the animation and it's so thrilling honestly.
26. Avatar: The Last Airbender
I know this is one of our childhood shows but this aged like fine wine. If you watch this as you grow older, there are a lot of hidden gems in this series and it makes your fragile heart cry.
27. Kiss Him, Not Me
This anime is reverse harem. Basically four guys have a crush on the same girl but that girl has a weird fantasy about boy's love. This is also a very lighthearted anime. All the feels.
28. Love Is War
The president and vice president are secretly in love with each other but they won't admit it to each other because it would mean they have lost the war, hence, love is war.
29. Money Heist
This is one of the most famous shows on Netflix. The Spanish title is La Casa de Papel which translates to The House of Paper because that is where the robbers will steal where money is printed. A lot of foreplay with the events which kind of makes it dragging.
30. MINDHUNTER
This Netflix series is highly underrated. This show is about serial killers (when it wasn't termed as serial killers back then) and how two special FBI agents and a psychology professor studied killers with repetitive patterns in their murders.
31. Carmen Sandiego
This animated series is fun to watch especially when the main character (MC) tries to defeat the evil organization that raised her from stealing historical and expensive artifacts. I love the animation, too.
32. The Politician
Everyone is gay/queer in this series. Period. I love this show. And I'm also excited for season 2.
33. The End of the F***ing World
One of my fave shows honestly. The male main character is devoid of any human emotions and was planning to murder the female main character but instead, they end up going in an adventure which makes my heart go soft.
34. Atypical
This series has my heart go soft. The main character is in the spectrum, and it shows how he has overcome through obstacles when it comes to school, love, family and the outside world.
35. The Dragon Prince
This animated series is one of my fave too. The creators of ATLA are also the creators of this show and there is so much emotional depth and maturity in this series. It also made me cry a lot of times.
36. Kim's Convenience
This sitcom is such a lighthearted show. This is about a Korean family living in Canada and owning a convenience store. This also talks about the family dynamic when it comes to Korean families (Asian families in general).
37. You
This series is also highly known on Netflix. The thrill and the plot twists leave me breathless, especially in Season 2, but I won't spoil any of that so that it won't ruin your experience watching the show!
38. The Witcher
A lot of people compare this to Game of Thrones because of the theme (looks medieval, fantasy) but it is highly different. This show is not as heavily triggering like Game of Thrones and this show proves that you don't need to r*pe women on screen to make it good.
39. Titans
This is a DC series about Titans (Robin, Nightwing, Starfire, Beastboy, Raven, Wondergirl, Hawk, Dove and what makes up Titans that are not from Justice League). It can be dragging sometimes but the plot is really good (Trigon on season 1, Deathstroke on season 2).
40. The Good Place
This sitcom also has a special place in my heart. This show questions you about what makes a person good, and also morality and ethics. The humor is also A+.
41. Locke & Key
This show had me at the edge of my seat all the time. The characters are unpredictable. Basically, the Locke family are keeper of special keys that can be used as a weapon if they fall to the wrong hands.
42. Love Is Blind
The only reason I kept watching this show is because of one couple who has a healthy relationship since the start. Everything else crappy/cringy.
43. The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez
This show had me fuming and crying because of the faulty system in the US, because of homophobic people. I won't accept any more reasons why Gabriel Fernandez was killed, because this is a hate crime against people who aren't straight.
44. Castlevania
I thought this was a kids' show but it's actually not. The characters are so hot and I love the first 2 seasons. Season 3 was kinda okay.
45: Haikyuu
This anime, aside from Shokugeki no Soma, is my favourite. This is an anime about characters who play volleyball and are underdogs who have defeated so many great opponents.
46. Freud
This is an Austrian Netflix series set in the 1880s, when Freud wasn't a successful man yet and is still struggling to become a name in the field of psychology.
47. The Haunting of Hill House
It’s not really scary but it will still leave you startled. This is about a family who lived in a haunted house and left due to many complications.
