Hey, it’s ya philo gurl using my remaining brain cells to make sense of what’s been happening to me. So lately, I’ve been into DAY6 M/M (Male/Male) fan fics. 🤭 I know it doesn’t sit well with a lot of people... /tara/, let’s talk about real person fics (Soc Med AUs, etc.).
I hope you’re critical about the things you consume. Sure it’s harmless, but there’s no such thing as private belief, meaning your beliefs affect how you act, and what you consider good/not. So, question: is it wrong to consume real person fics?
I actually had a long conversation with my so/bf on the matter (some parts I’ll include here, but forgive us, bc we’re both braindead at the time), and we agree that it’s not wrong: For one, “Communities are formed around fan content.”
This is an unpopular opinion, but I can’t word this any better than he did. “Objectification”, which is usually the criticism thrown at rp fics, is really not a problem, bc aren’t they being marketed as such (objects/commodities)?
