Supposed to be brewing today, but finding it quite hard to get motivated. Out of practice!
Fuck it. Improvising a bit, as I didn’t want to take the regular “brewing table” out of the cider cellar.
Must do a deep clean on that kegerator too, now that I think of it.
Kettle on. That was rather quicker than I thought, as I’d expected to have to do more clearing up to make space. Fold up beer tables FTW!
Malt bill sorted. Very simple, pale ale with a bit of Munich malt.
Overkill on the drill, I know.
Mash on. That’s not bad temp control for a simple infusion mash with a jug 😜 I made this cooler box mash tun in 2008, shortly after moving to Germany and needing to rebuilt missing bits of kit. Has served me well.
Meanwhile, my mate is also brewing. We were supposed to do a joint brew today on this kit, but decided to maintain social distancing for the sake of our families. He got the hops and yeast from me yesterday, but I’ll be dialling up the hops for my beer.
Low-tech Läutern. But it works 😉
Mosaic hops already in the kettle for first Wort hopping.
Pre-boil target was 12.9, so my little mash tun was more efficient, as usual. Let’s läuter a little more...
That’ll do.

It’s going to be a tight fit once that boil gets up.
Watched pot, etc...
Yeah baby! Had to resist the urge to throw hops in, remembering that this is first wort-hopped. Did that before as someone distracted me, so had to cut the boil short
