I'm signing up for @TBSBookClub 2020 reading challenge lmao. Is this even a good idea? Can I finish it? Let's see.
Actually I signed up last week and so far I have finished 2/13 prompts woot!
Compeleted prompt #1: Defense Against the Dark Arts (books with author of color)

I read: A Very Large Expanse of Sea (Tahereh Mafi)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

CW: Islamophobic

Blurb: this is the first Muslim author with Muslim MC book I read. I love the storyline, not to overly sweet.
Shirin's portrayal as angsty teenager is perfect, being a teenager is already difficult let alone being one from minority group. Tired of being associated by terrorism (since this book's timeline was in 2002), Shirin decided to not being involved with social life in high school.
I love her relationship with Navid, her brother. Shirin doesn't really have friends so she's hanging around with her brother and break dancing. I don't really like Ocean (the love interest) because he's too naive and annoying (but again it's 2002 so he didn't know a lot.)
Compeleted prompt #2: History of Magic (read a book from the year you were born)

I read: Stellaluna by Janell Cannon

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blurb: honestly, I picked this randomly because this is the only book from 1993 that's available on Scribd 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but I didn't regret it.
Stellaluna is about a baby bat who got adopted by a bird. Growing up, she started acting more and more like a bird instead being a bat. It's cute and funny and actually has moral lesson I think.
Compeleted prompt #3: Advanced Charms (book about platonic relationship)

I read: Little Women (Louisa May Alcott)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Blurb: idk why this book has to be split as Little Women and Good Wives? (But I haven't finished the Good Wives part lmao).
But on the bright side, I finally finished a classic! I DNFed Emma and Dracula back in 2017ish due to the language difficulty
Compeleted prompt #4: transfiguration (read a book that is being adapted into 2020 movie/TV series)

I read: All The Bright Places (Jennifer Niven)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blurb: the movie is crappy, it only shows the romance between Finch and Violet. The actors where great though.
But when I read the book, I think they missed the real highlight of this book. Niven wants to highlight about grief, undiagnosed mental illness, ignorance and stigma behind it. Sadly it is not captured in the movie.
Compeleted prompt #5: Potions (Read a book that has a title beginning with the first letter of your name.)

I read: (the) Ugly Duckling (H.C Andersen)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Blurb: well... I found this on Scribd so why not? Plus children stories are good.
Completed prompt #6: Care of Magical Creatures (Read a book inspired by mythology, legend or folklore.)

I read: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (Rick Riordan)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blurb: I wish I read this sooner.
Completed prompt #7: Flying (Read a book by an LGBTQ+ author.)

I read: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of Universe (Benjamin Alire Sáenz)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Blurb: Ulfa enjoys this.
Completed prompt #8: Arithmancy (Read a book that is either shorter than 150 pages or longer than 500 pages.)

I read: Galatea (Madeline Miller)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Blurb: it's an interesting short story but tbh I have a difficulty to understand it 🙃
Completed prompt #9: Astronomy (Read a book that has celestial body (moon, stars, etc.) On cover)

I read: The Girl Who Drank the Moon (Kelly Barnhill)

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Blurb: first MG fiction that I'm struggling to read, it's not that bad but I expected better.
I have finished three more prompts in here wohoooo.
Now I have completed the challenge, let's just update this thread Raven.
