So back in my college days, I was introduced to the screwed and chopped life. This is the tracks that made me love the art that came from screwing and chopping... Found these in my archives of napster/limewire days #ScrewedandChoppedAppreciation #Thread
Keeping it real, not all screwed and chopped tracks are made equally. some are trash, some are art, some transcend art.... Mainly 3 guys always did it right, DJ Screw, OG Ron C, and DJ Michael 5000 Watts... Houston folks know and those outside of houston learned the art of S&C
The first track that got my attention in the S&C world was Couldn't Be A Better Player. Not only was the track chopped at the right spots but it KNOCKED SO HARD IN THE TRUNK! The Intro was just for fun so you have to enjoy how Houston did it. If you have beats turn it up!
Being from Oklahoma I heard DJ Screw in the late 90's but didnt appreciate it till early 2k in college. Because of that last track I was hooked. Then I heard the freestyles and ooooohhh boy I was in love! Here are some that just hit right: In Da Club - 50 Cent
Y'all don't deserve the whole track so only snippets lol. On the real OG Ron C was soooooo damn good with the R&B. He created #FuckAction and it was a staple in my dorm room. Here is Prototype:
Then they went older, from Al Green, Prince, to Public Announcement: Honey love! It was just so fucking fun!
Al Green:
Prince! Purple Rain!
So these are snippets, if you want the full tracks, just like, retweet, and follow me, and say do the full! I'll post them all on here and give you a drive folder with each track available. The archives are pretty thicker than a snicker...
Of course they focused on the current times. Like I said, not all screwed and chopped tracks are made the same, this one here, is one that just hit right. It's all about timing with the chop. It has to feel seamless. 24's:
Listen to how the intro was cut up... So damn smoooooooth... Most didnt appreciate how great this was in its time. I loved just how the timing was just right on Welcome to Atlanta:
I was big on the screw. It hit different on the subs i had. Rockford fosgate 12's with a pioneer amp. Beat the block down. Now my LB @TDlauren rocked some Solo Baric L7's from Kicker and BOY you felt the air rushing through the trailblazer.. Miss those days: Numba 1 Stunna
Lots of #CashMoney stuff came through sounding lovely S&C. now the blending was amazing when you listened to the albums, not so much in this format but still fly. Still Fly:
BELIEVE ME when I say, these hit different with subs.. i mean DIFFERENT! So to wrap up before I take my drunk self to bed, a VA track that my boy @DragonflyJonez would appreciate: Up Jumps Da Boogie S&C:
Last of VA and something smoooooth to enjoy...
#FuckAction was a dorm room staple... Here is Aaliyah #RIPAaliyah with Come Over.....
