Reminder that climate bands are moving an average of 20 km a year. We have to be moving ecosystems as quickly as possible
Even with greatly lessened climate change we will still have a situation where few species are native to where they can live. Re-diversification of genome of species new mixes and northern migration are all necessary parts of having anything Living other than deserts.
For ex where I live in Portland OR the climate by 2080 maybe something more like Sacramento California. If the species from Sacramento move north that would be great but if we are unable to do that we will be like Syria which was like Sacramento until deforestation 6k years ago
If we don’t move vegetation along with the climate then it is the same as massive species death.
Usually this is done slowly by animals over thousands of years. But Now there is habitat fragmentation, roads and it’s happening too fast.
An important solution could be to migrate scat rather then wait. Animals like bears already are responsible for seed dispersal. Collect their shat and move it north to be interbred with local species and adapted to intermediate climatic conditions. https://twitter.com/buildsoil/status/1197627965166649344?s=21 https://twitter.com/buildsoil/status/1197627965166649344
Scat
Scale of permanence teaches:
climate controls landform
which control water
Which all control access
Which all control vegetation.

plants can’t be native until we reestablish The higher systems. If those can’t be restored then plants must be moved.
