Lots of comments about #Taiwan's move to reveal its email to @WHO on December 31, 2019 have been circulating on here for the last 20 hours or so. Here's a genuine feel and take from a Taiwanese - I personally think the government overworked its international campaign ...
... pushing for #Taiwan's inclusion into the @WHO. The moment when they choose to go down the "I want to accuse you of being negligent of my good performance," it is deviating away from its early successes that have been widely acknowledged by the world.
The Taiwanese government certainly thought they see an opportunity to "amplify" its support after Bruce Aylward's cowardice performance on the @rthk_enews interview. That was probably the height of the international community's general support for #Taiwan.
But from then on, the overcooked accusation made by MOFA, an agency that should not have been the initial government agency to comment on a "pure public health incident" decided to jump the gun to aim the accusation at WHO.
Remember, #Taiwan was the one who repeatedly call on @WHO not to politicize "Taiwan's exclusion" from the organization, yet the moment they launched that accusation against the WHO is when they started politicizing this PR campaign.
So since then, there is no way back from the current tit-for-tat drama that has been going on for the last few days. I'm Taiwanese and I will always want to be pro-Taiwan. But I do think the government overcooked this particular step and it is really not making #Taiwan ...
... look particularly convincing or "innocent" in this global call for "don't politicize #COVID19" campaign. The accusation on March 30th, in my opinion, is the catalyst of the current contentious episode that is unfolding in front of us.
