I'm not a brand owner, but can I speak on something really quick?
Having (good) products, cute packaging, and good customer service is nice, but when you take the time to establish an aesthetic for your brand as a whole, create a theme for launches, and take it up a step with your product shots, it will really take you and your brand elsewhere.
I was looking at quite a few different pages of indie brands, many of them being ran by just one person and some of y'all have the creative vision and some of yall don't. Or maybe you do have it and you don't have the tools or you don't care.
When you don't care it shows. Please invest in your website's looks and layout. Learn more about product photography so your products can look more appealing. Think about how you interact with customers on social media.
Outsourcing is expensive, esp when you're just starting out, so learn a new skill. Improve yourself and expand upon your skill set so your brand can soar.
Tbh I made this thread because I went on A LOT of different sites of indie brands a few days ago (so I can stop buying from the same 3), and some of the sites were either boring, hard to navigate, difficult to read bc of color combos, or the products didn't look appealing-
- due to the photography. Some sites were all over the place as far as what they were selling as well. You can have a good product but you need to do it justice. Please. I wanna see y'all succeed
