Republican Recruitment Update: As with the Dems, the Reps' best candidates mostly won their primaries. However, sometimes they didn't. In this thread, I will cover those times.
AL-01: I would have preferred @PringleforAL01, but his positions are very similar to the two winners, @CarlForAlabama and @BillHightowerAL. They'll both be fine Congressmen!
AL-02: @JessicaTaylorAL was a charismatic candidate with good policies AND a proven fundraiser. While the district is still safe, both @RepBarryMoore and @JeffColemanAL are rather boring and will most likely end up as backbenchers. Alabama had a chance.
CA-08: Another safe seat, another missed opportunity. @JayObernolte is boring and unoriginal. @PatriotNotPol would have done a good job shifting the Overton Window on immigration.
CA-45: This is HUGE. GOP lost an amazing pickup opportunity against Warren-lite @katieporteroc. @GregRaths has already lost multiple times for his extremist far-right views. Literally ANY of the others would have made it competitive, and @huang4congress was an A+ recruit!
CA-50: @DarrellIssa ran away from CA-49 two years ago like the coward he is, knowing he would likely underperform. Why give him a chance of coming back? @carldemaio is a young, moderate with a new voice who would have been perfect for the area.
NC-11: There are two choices. One is an inexperienced candidate who would be better served by growing up a bit an running after redistricting in a decade. The other was endorsed by @MarkMeadows and brings a great perspective to western NC. Republicans, vote @LyndaBennettNC.
TX-13: @RonnyJackson4TX is partisan, and will lose all his meaning in 2020 or 2024. While @WinegarnerTX is a fine candidate, @ElaineHaysTX would have been a woman with decades of seniority ahead of her - a fine continuation for @MacThornberry's legacy. Vote Winegarner, I guess.
TX-17: I hate carpetbaggers, and I hate losers. I love young moderates, and I love candidates who were endorsed by retiring incumbents. The choice is obvious: @ReneeSwann4TX. A contest between her and @GeorgeWHindman would have been awesome; as it is she is the clear choice.
TX-22: @SheriffTNehls is amazing, but so is @WallforTX. The choice is incredibly hard, and either of them will raise huge sums and be huge favorites in the general, but I have to go with Kathaleen Wall because she is the only one who understands the threat of China.
TX-23: I originally supported @arredondo_lynch, and continue to believe she would be an amazing Congresswoman. However, the Reps need to win this competitive district, and the way to win is by not nominating an extremist like @Raul4Congress. @TonyGonzales4TX is the perfect fit.
IL-11: A huge upset that singlehandedly took away any hope the Reps had of winning this district, as Some Dude Rick Laib (not even a Twitter handle!) managed to beat A-tier recruit @KrishnaBansalUS. Shameful.
IL-14: The 5 serious candidates were an anti-terrorist advocate, a charismatic up-and-comer with huge fundraising totals (especially for a Rep pre-primary), a generic Republican, a 73-year-old 5-time loser, and one of IL's best state senators. Guess who the GOP picked. I'll wait.
