Had a call today with some dear smart friends...cooked dinner and the following pieces are still marinating in my brain: 1/n
How can we take advantage of this moment the same way the reactionaries do? Can we buy/create infrastructure that takes us beyond this crisis? 2/n
How can we remain/maintain an internationalist perspective while also knowing that the fight we can engage in is here, where we live?
What do we do to make sure that the number of deaths are not just numbers? How do we lift the memory of those who passed and use their memories as fuel for this fight? 4/n
While the surveillance apparatus advances under the name of public health, how do we re-center/keep centered how these systems of control are always weaponized against non-white and poor folks? The reformers want to make deals that normalize the #StalkerState 5/n
How will we know the true number of folks who die behind the walls/in prisons/cages? Will we be able to use the failure of the judicial system and politicians as an opportunity to demystify the harmful core of the carceral system? 6/n
How do we bring joy back to this work? We have to grieve but we also have to center this fight in affirming life and creating a society which is full of joy...how do we feed or plant those seeds so that they bloom post-pandemic? 7/7
