Watching the Tim Minchin JCS which is currently on YouTube for free. Am unimpressed with Minchin, tbh, and Judas is the most interesting character, so that’s a disappointment.

What isn’t a disappointment are Caiaphas, who is a PROPER BASS for once, Melanie C as Mary Magdalene, Pontius Pilate, and Jesus. Jesus can actually hit all the notes in “Gethsemane,” which doesn’t often happen.

The staging of “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” was particularly good—usually it’s framed as a sappy love song when it’s really about how Mary has been fundamentally changed by Jesus.
