Why Brazil is the most over the top country in the world, a thesis:

I'll show you what's probably the most traditional... eh... news TV show in Brazil. It's named "Fantastic" because of course it is. And it has been there for ages.

Join me in this amazing, crazy journey:
Let us go back to 1973 and experience the opening of the said show back then:

I mean, there's a lot going on there, right? Bunch of people dancing in crazy costumes, exactly what you hope to see in the opening of a weekly news show.
But it gets better! In 1974 guess what we get?

COLORS!

LOTS AND LOTS OF COLORS! Dear God there are so many colors here... But you still have that crazy sound of harps that make everything look like magic!
In 1975 you can totally see some nuances you will only find in the Hair film later in 1979.

WE WERE AHEAD OF OUR TIME I TELL YOU:
Now we move to 1976-1979 where you have friggin galaxies exploding all over the TV! Nothing says news like a mofo BIG BANG on your face:

And the sound effects! FFFFFSHHHHHHHWAAAAAAAARZBURGERRRRRRRR
1979-1983 and you see less galaxies and sounds effects but more women, less clothing, still there's always people dancing in crazy costumes. God there's so much of people dancing in crazy costumes...
Now in 1983 shit gets totally different. They hire this guy, Hans Donner and he loves CGI. So he CGI she shit out of this thing:

There are frigging pyramids! And frigging rainbows that slice the hell out of them! And God so many people dancing. Very 80s
SHWWWWOOOOOSHHHHH

Hans is originally from Austria so joke is on them
From this point Hans Donner becomes a mix of David Copperfield meets Elton John, a celebrity and owns this with moar and moar friggin CGI. Now you get some people materializing out of water! Dancing across the deserts!
Ok, let's move to the 2000. Things get a little more discrete:

Meh. Let's move to 2015:

FLOWERS! FACES! ICEBERG WOMEN! VOLCANO WOMEN! There's so much going on here!
Of course during the years they had many different anchors.

One of the most famous of them is named, and I kid you not because you can't make this shit up: WILLIAM BONNER.

That's right. William is always happy to see you.
But let us move to what for years was the most popular CHILDRENS TV SHOW in Brazil:

If you are wondering if the audience for this was just children, or whether the host also did more... er... "adult" movies, you are asking the right questions.
In fact, even the Simpsons had to make fun of that at some point:
