Wait a minute Lilo is like nine years old and she's traumatized from losing her parents

Who the hell watches this movie and thinks "She's a brat and she gets away with too much" https://twitter.com/SquigglyDigg/status/1246984685567143942
Man the movie was great because it DOESN'T "glamorize" Hawaiian culture, or anything else

Hawaii may be a beautiful place but you've still gotta work for a living and the only luau we see is the tacky fake one at a restaurant catering to obnoxious tourists
And Lilo is cute and sympathetic but not in the obnoxiously unrealistic way in which sentimental films turn suffering traumatized kids into little angels

Kids are fucking hard to live with at the best of times and it's not the best of times
Ha ha holy shit I went on to read the next post and the reason the person thinks L&S is "inaccurate" is they're descended from white people in Hawaii in the 70s and they think "haoles" were objectively the oppressed class

Jesus fucking Christ
That's why they sided against Lilo in the movie and with Mertle, they grew up with stories of "Kill Haole Day" and think making the bully white is a divisive racist stereotype attacking Hawaiian white people

Oh my God
