On March 1, when I told my parents that a patient in San Antonio who was released from quarantine with negative testing results later tested positive for coronavirus, I thought it was new.

My mom quickly replied, "so many cases like this in China."

At that point, it was already old news in China.

I could easily find so many reports about people who were discharged with negative results came back positive.

In China, the terminology is called "复阳“, (re-positive).
To combat re-positive cases, China established a strict protocol of considering patients as "cured."

It's also why I found alarming when I found out about this: https://twitter.com/YuanRuby/status/1243033894590377984?s=20
Also, btw, if you looking at stories published in February and March in this thread, some were framed as that it was testing, diagnosis and treatment failure in China leading to re-positive cases.
Why I am yelling on a Saturday afternoon?

It's so painful to see push alerts and headline stories on APRIL 11 saying WHO is looking into reports about patients testing positive again after being released with negative results.
And many stories are treating this as new findings.
