Trump judge Justin Walker holds that churches have a right to gather for drive-in services so long as parishioners remain in their cars.

On the merits, I think that is correct, but the opinion is so partisan and over-the-top it discredits itself. https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.kywd.116558/gov.uscourts.kywd.116558.6.0.pdf
I cannot comprehend why a judge would behave this way. The reason to write careful, lawyerly opinions is so people take them seriously -- & take the judiciary seriously. And that's doubly true when the judge reaches the correct result. Why discredit your decision? It's a self-own
Meanwhile, Trump's nominated this reckless partisan to the DC Circuit, the second-most powerful Court in the country.
The one other think I'll say about that Judge Walker opinion is that I suspect we'll see a lot of this from younger FedSoc brats.

FedSoc lawyers of, say, Brett Kavanaugh's generation believed they needed to persuade their judicial superiors. So they write like lawyers.
But brats like Walker know that they can write whatever they want, as so long as it aligns with the orthodox conservative position in term of result, SCOTUS will uphold them. So why not let it all hang out? And why put the effort into writing a careful opinion?
