SF's stance on the Army helping the NHS is unusually incoherent. If SF simply rejected it ideologically, it would make sense. But now, with the surge having perhaps already begun, Michelle O'Neill today said "we must do everything to save lives" & in the next breath added "I don't believe British Army assistance is necessary...we are coping" - despite the Department of Health saying it needs help.
So the Dept of Health & every other party in the Executive - SDLP, Alliance, UUP & DUP - support the Army being called upon to help the NHS. But SF - which says it has no ideological opposition to British military involvement - claims it knows that it's still not necessary...
