Over the last 24hrs the UK has received donations of PPE from Turkey and ventilators from Germany. When the dust settles, one of the many big questions to be answered will be why this charity was necessary and how Britain can avoid being in such an exposed position in the future.

Clearly, one of the net effects of this crisis (across the West) will be a deglobalisation of medical and pharmaceutical supply chains.
