It is my turn in the Gannett furlough barrel next week. It sucks but everyone in the world is going through tough times. Despite corporate decisions and in the face of a pandemic and an unprecedented election, the work of the @journalsentinel over the last month has been stellar.
I& #39;ve been at the paper since 2005. I& #39;ve been hired, laid off, and rehired. My job status has been part-time, full-time, and temporary. I& #39;ve been a copy editor, wire editor, page designer and beat writer. I& #39;ve been through too many corporate mergers to remember them all.
I& #39;ve been furloughed before, taken pay cuts, gotten raises, @jeff_maillet once paid me for some work with cases of beer. I& #39;ve seen way too many friends lose their jobs or give up on the business. But something about that newsprint just gets in your blood.
I& #39;m always going to keep fighting back until I get knocked down for the count. My @journalsentinel colleagues are the same way. The future is uncertain, but our only hope is if you subscribe. See you all next Sunday. Onward! https://cm.jsonline.com/specialoffer/?gps-source=CPNEWS&utm_medium=onsite&utm_source=news&utm_campaign=NEWSROOM&utm_content=CPNEWS">https://cm.jsonline.com/specialof...
