Every loser who thinks this way sure is going to enjoy paying $5 to send a letter in addition to paying a monthly subscription fee to Amazon or whomever to even receive mail at their address. https://twitter.com/BobbyEberle13/status/1248990032213553152
Arguing against the USPS is like saying all roads should be toll roads. Even if you don't have a car, you enjoy the benefit of anyone being able to reach you.
People who are against the Post Office, like with most conservative stances, are limited by two-dimensional thought: "I rarely send a letter, so I don't really need it."
If you think private options are better, check out this rate comparison. Same weight (8 oz), same destination, FedEx STARTS at $13. And takes three days longer. #SaveUSPS
Now imagine being a business owner who sends out hundreds or thousands of packages a year. Are you going to eat that cost? Or pass it on to your customers? Do you think sales might go down when customers are like, "Why is there a $20 shipping charge?"
FedEx and UPS are specialty services--they exist to ship large parcels and freight, and items needing precise timed delivery. They are not set up to do what the Postal Service does.
Also, it is fucking stupid as hell to let the post office collapse in the same year where the Christmas season is going to be crucial to the survival of businesses and the overall economy.
Like, "Ooops, sorry, we destroyed the infrastructure for e-commerce."
