aight, i swear ill do some more joke posts, but a pal said it might be a good idea to post this esp cuz of the therapy Stuff Yesterday
ive noticed a lot of stuff directed towards my account and my friends', and some artists, is very. victim blame-y. and before i say a lot, all trauma is valid, but in my opinion, if you havent had a certain experience, then you shouldnt have the right to criticize those who have
if you havent been raped or molested over a long period of time as a kid/teen, then you dont get to say that survivors shouldnt express their feelings as adults in adult spaces. a big part of recovery from these things is coming to terms with feelings and handling them
if you havent been in a physically traumatic experience, you shouldnt tell someone to just "walk off" pain or anxiety, ect.
it wouldnt make sense, right? thats PHYSICAL pain theyre dealing with, you can't just, shame that or ignore it. psychological trauma is the same way

and thats why these kinds of comments piss me off. and it especially makes me angry when these people bring up therapy as if we ARENT in therapy or HELPING ourselves. as if the point of therapy ISNT to learn to ACCEPT our feelings and work with them-
-but instead, to SHAME our feelings and ignore them.
before you tell someone to go to therapy or something, or yell at them for no reason, understand that theres most likely more to what the fuck is going on than just "wow i want to be gross to hurt people :)" or smthn
