female characters who can fight, stand up for themselves, and generally take no shit are pointless (and boring) if they don't have depth and layers to them (on top of those traits) because they can come across as one dimensional
female characters who never show signs of weakness, who never display negative traits, and/or never backtrack on progress are not the perfect or ideal feminist repersentation and it, instead, creates bland characters who could be replaced with literally anyone or anything else.
the strength and empowerment of female characters can be shown in a multitude of ways that don't rely solely (or even at all) on their physical strength especially at the expense of making them a bland cutout just to appear woke.
note: a female character might be a total badass who can fight and stand up for herself but she's still well written if she doesn't do either of those things or asks for help and even if she goes back and forth between the two states (or multiple states) of being
take beth boland for example... total badass who dumped money on her cheating husband and told him she could handle herself. yes! amazing! doesn't make her less so or poorly written just bc she's still with him and doesn't always have that level of "fuck you" energy towards him
it makes beth complex and perhaps a little flawed. is it frustrating at times? sure! but it makes things interesting. the point's not to make her perfect but to make her human which means aspects that may or may not be positive or even understandable based on your own experiences
you, personally, are not supposed to find full representation or familiarity in every single female character. there will be ones who are different to you or whose choices you don't agree with. there isn't a one size fits all for creating well-written, strong female characters ✌
