FF7R is a strong reminder that FFXIII was cut from the same cloth as FF7 and is VERY GOOD ACTUALLY and I stand by this forever, or until my opinion changes.
On the cusp of sharing my very right JRPG opinions, which include gems like "Lost Odyssey wasn't *that* great and I prefer Eternal Sonata to it, thanks" and "the original Nier is" actually forget that one, everyone always gets mad.
Here's another: The Last Remnant was remastered for PS4 and Switch and is terrific, but also remember that my JRPG opinions are weird. But it's the closest any game ever got to FFXII for me, and also has a cool broody villain in the Sephiroth vein.
One last FF opinion for no reason and no one asked: FFXIII-2 is the best of the trilogy, and has a late-game sequence that is among FF's most melancholy and bittersweet. Oh, and Crisis Core is unfairly forgotten and its ending is beautifully unnerving.
