Seeing a lot of overwhelmed parents in @celebrityhottub's feed. If you are WFH and parenting, that's 2 jobs. Teaching is a 3rd job. As a teacher, let me suggest this -- keep your kids fed, washed, and safe, and we can pick up w/ algebra and spelling etc later.
I have been trying to keep up w/ my GIS classes from home, and even w/ great teachers, it's much harder this way. There is nothing in the K-12 curriculum that won't still be learnable when school starts again.
Anecdotally, I am hearing about middle school kids going from As to Ds in the transition to online, and days worths of work that gets completed by 9:30. It's a mess, and this is a time where I think doing what's best for your individual kid is a good idea.
Also, I teach early American literature, mostly Puritan stuff, and if there are kids who want a Zoom conversation about monstrous births, witches, or colonial forts, I am game.
