Lots of bloggers out here talking like they’re actual journalists.

Writing is different than reporting.

Research, analysis, critique, peer review...all make for some standard of journalism.

And the level of “analysis” that is passed off as acceptable is abhorrent.
This isn’t to suggest writing isn’t incredibly important and skilled. It is. I’m a writer. I have a blog. I have never considered myself a journalist. Never wanted that label.

There’s so much groveling for a well-paid journalist (who’s going to be just fine) getting fired.
Let’s get a few things straight:

Your blog and a true journalism site ARE NOT THE SAME.

Blogging is important, but it’s not journalism.

Pandering and praising someone/something that doesn’t acknowledge your work or know you exist is pathetic.

Stop.
Crying for people who didn’t get along or follow the corporate model is weird.

Want to be outraged? Where is that level of outrage when good journalists not pulling in six-figures get let go? Where’s that anger when good people can’t FIND jobs?

Psst: it’s all fake as fuck
Apply logic to your outrage:

Defending people in ivory towers will not get you an invite to the ivory tower.

Defending millionaires and billionaires will not make you rich.

Demand better from the industry, pay for journalism, and hold anyone posing as a journalist accountable
