ah um okay, here& #39;s my hot take on this

All of the points you made would make much much MUCH more sense, but... I think you may have forgotten that Lilo is SIX. And not only that, she clearly is going through a lot of grief and trauma for someone her age (thread, cont) https://twitter.com/SquigglyDigg/status/1246984685567143942">https://twitter.com/SquigglyD...
When people go through trauma, ESPECIALLY at a young age where they don& #39;t know how to respond to it, their behavior does become bratty and they act out. /THIS IS NORMAL./ In fact, this behavior is seen as something to look out for, it shows that something is VERY wrong.
and Lilo clearly has a broken and stressful home life. Her older sister is left as her caretaker, and it& #39;s clear that she is VERY stressed out at this turn of events, and not only that, but Lilo is in a situation where she risks being removed from her home by a SOCIAL WORKER.
Social workers, even if their intentions are good, very much have the ability to scar children for life. Environments like this cause trust issues, paranoia, over secretiveness, along with a plethora of other issues that can very much persist into adulthood.
And it& #39;s not that her guardian is LETTING her act like a brat, there& #39;s nothing she can do really. Nani is 19, most 19-year-olds are not prepared to care for a 6-year-old by themselves while also having a full-time job, she likely has no idea what to do here.
and I don& #39;t think that calling Lilo such harsh names is really fair? She is in KINDERGARTEN, her parents are DEAD, she gets BULLIED, there& #39;s a SOCIAL WORKER on her ass trying to take her from her only family left - cut her some slack! nobody can act perfectly in that situation.
But like I said, I don& #39;t think your intentions with this were out of hate or racism like other people are saying. I genuinely believe that you were just posting an honest criticism of this movie, which is totally fine, I can& #39;t fault you for having an opinion.
And all of your critiques would be SPOT ON if Lilo was an adult using her trauma as an excuse to do whatever she wanted, but I think you over-estimated the moral capabilities of someone Lilo& #39;s age, which came off as insensitive and disrespectful to some.
SO in conclusion, there& #39;s no excuse for acting bratty or "abusive", but it& #39;s always good to look at the circumstances and situation before deciding that they& #39;re choosing to act like that out of selfishness and cruelness.
