We now have a spectacular webcam video of last night’s fire fountaining eruption at Anak Karakatau! Video put together by @volcanodiscover, whose website is a great source for up to date volcano info.

Fire fountaining starts around 0:40 (clip below)
“Around 23:00, the activity dramatically increases: lava bombs are seen landing all over in the vicinity of the webcam (bright traces), but the camera survives... this is the moment probably, [when] the lava fountaining phase started, which also generated a ash/steam plume”
“Activity then drops very rapidly at around 08:00, when this eruptive phase can be called to have ended although intermittent, smaller steam and ash clouds still continue to rise from the crater.”
