I personally love the legend of #HolySaturday, when Christ descended to limbo, (1st circle of hell for Dante fans) & gathered the souls of the righteous who died before Christ gifted the Holy Spirit to humanity through his death, to bring those righteous souls to heaven. (1/6)
As these souls could not have been Christian, as Christianity wasn't a thing yet, to me, it means Christ is proving that any person regardless of faith can be righteous and worthy of heaven. Since Christ previously showed that humans can be forgiven for sin, all are worthy. (2/6)
So, in my faith, (I'm not trying to convert you with this thread, just explain what I believe) every human can be redeemed, every soul can be righteous & that path is through serving the less fortunate, loving & forgiving others & redeeming ourselves after our own sins. (3/6)
I personally suck at forgiveness. I hold grudges. When I turn the other cheek, it's my ass cheek, walking away. I'm especially poor at forgiving myself. I suffer redemption pretty well though, & I love hard. Service to others is important. But I have work to do forgiving. (4/6)
My faith dictates that we should serve the poor, feed the hungry, heal the sick, & abundance should be shared. My politics are shaped by that. As a theologian, I need to be more forgiving & learn how to shepherd those who don't serve the less fortunate into doing so better. (5/6)
Anyhow, #HolySaturday is special to me. More special that tomorrow's Zombie Jesus Day. May we all be redeemed through service to those less fortunate than us. May we all seek justice for the oppressed. May we build a better humanity through exploring our own humanity. Amen. (6/6)
