#NoStudentLeftBehind is a false promise. It's hard to cope with higher level courses if you don't master the prereq. The smarter, richer kids with access to time and resources definitely can. They can buy books, get a tutor, ask their parents for help. What about the poor (1/5)
kid? How will that poor kid review theories that could've been discussed in class if he's a working student? What if he does not have a laptop? These kids, who rely on state-funded classes, will be robbed of the chance to learn those if they get mass promoted, right? (2/5)
What about that kid with learning disabilities? Self-study is an art that unfortunately not all of us have mastered anyway. Some of us (myself included) cry when reviewing statistics and econ. (3/5)
What about that kid with mental health problems who refuses to study alone lest it triggers her anxiety? What if she does not have friends to study with her? Is it ok that she's thrown under the bus? (4/5)
I know we only want is best but unless we take these intersectional issues into account, the vulnerable will always get left behind. (5/5)
