Cook county isn't handing out death certificates to everybody so my cousin is being buried Monday without official notice.

We just dont have burial money laying around, which is why we buy life insurance. But without a death cert, the policy wont cover the funeral and burial..

For those that have never buried someone before... my dad's plot alone cost $6k (years ago). They charged extra bc he was big and tall and said we had to buy two plots.

And not like we can comparison shop.

I am told that my cousin's daughter will eventually get a certificate. No date as to when, but eventually.

Meanwhile the funeral home is trying to work w/our family. But you know I dont trust these cemetery owners.. (imho based off the money grab when they refused to bury my dad without an extra 2k cash that same day)

Straight said to my mom he is bigger than we thought. More $$$!

Update: cuzzo says the cemetery requires cash payment 48 hours in advance. Today. They arent waiting for insurance. If you all google the cemeteries here that bury black people you will see this bogus practice, amongst other bogus practices
