God I saw the Lilo and Stitch discourse. It was much worse than expected.

I'm not saying that person should lose her job. But if she continues to work with children any employer who reads that would definitely avoid hiring her.
Physical aggression while not ideal, is a way for kids who are misunderstood and not heard to communicate. It's common in children facing language barriers or w/ ASD for example. We should never encourage it, but it doesn't reflect the morality of a CHILD
People like her expel kindergarteners from school. Don't teach them alternative ways to communicate; hate children with disabilities and trauma. They don't give children time to grow, if they arrive to school with behaviors that aren't perfect.
I've seen kindergarten teachers receive death threats from kids, they KNOW it's not a reflection of the child. They're five-six.
The first story I heard about really violent language I was shocked. I asked if the kid stayed in the school and was OK? And she was a model student by third grade. Her parents were just getting a divorce her kindergarten year.
Kids don't have access to control their environment. Especially kindergarteners. Kids hit when they want things, when they're not heard, when they LIKE people sometimes. A parent and teacher works with them to unlearn that, guess what Lilo didn't fucking have?????
Honestly I'm going to at OP, @SquigglyDigg. I don't know if you've heard the perspective a professional. I'm a Special Education teacher, studied a lot of multicultural education and points of views like yours marginalize children.
I don't remember Lilo and Stitch 100%, but based on her interests, struggles communicating; I'd place money on Lilo being ASD or ADHD coded. Young Children with these disabilities and/or trauma hit. It is a reality.
Kids w/ these disabilities (trauma inclusive) hit. It's normal. They learn not to later than their peers for various reasons (shocker, trauma delays development, and ASD/ADHD are developmental disabilities).
I work with students like these. Schools working in areas with high poverty work with so many kids like Lilo. A lot of them aren't even receiving Special Education because it's not unusual. They're physically aggressive and they aren't /brats/. She's a SIX year old.
And finally. The movie does not even IMPLY Lilo's behavior is good. My most vivid memory of the movie are the scenes where Lilo is facing consequences; getting looks of disappointment from her kind teacher, being spoken to 1:1 about the incident to reflect and debrief.
