Just announced: New York City’s public schools closed for the rest of the year. We start later and the school year lasts to the end of June, meaning kids will miss another 2.5 months of school. Devastating.
My daughter’s class is half ICT, and we’ve yet to see half of the class login for the morning meetings. They can’t possibly be getting their special services, and the online learning modules for all of our students cannot replace school.
What will be the plan to address this? It will have to be massive.
Let me be clear, this tweet is not AGAINST the decision. That it is necessary doesn’t make it any less devastating, and this decision MUST come with a intensive plan to address the gaping disparities it will exacerbate and create.
