Dear high school seniors,
I’m sorry that you lost the end of your high school career. That really stinks.
You’ve probably heard about the student loan crisis. You could try going to a college you can afford. It might not be your dream school, but student loans are a nightmare.

I know many of you can not afford any colleges. It is wildly expensive. I know my family didn’t have that kind of money, so I started at a community college. I was a little jealous of all my friends going to fancy cool schools.
I like to think that I turned out okay. I did end up with some student loan debt. That was not fun to pay off, but we made it a priority. We said no to a lot of things that we wanted to buy. It was hard, but we’re so glad we sacrificed.
Expecting the government to forgive your student loans seems like a bad gamble. Have you seen the way they’ve handled this pandemic? It is an unfair system, but that doesn’t mean you have to make the same mistake so many are making.
My dad was a hard working truck driver, turned factory worker, and now he works for a carrot farmer. He told me that my word is my bond. When you borrow money, you made a promise. A promise to pay it back. I wish the system wasn’t so broken.
Just please know what you are getting yourself into. The system is currupt. Educate yourself. Good luck.
PS: If you’re a parent with a kid that you think might go to college someday, you should probably read this book by @AnthonyONeal.
