People who categorize Gates as either wanting to help or sinister ~to a cartoon are the kinds of people who fall to manipulation. Even Hitler didn't think he was evil. They can't tell the difference, ~an abuser who rationalizes the abuse, & the abused who rationalizes it's love.

2/When people do "evil," they generally either don't know it or are only vaguely aware of it. It's only to children that evil manifests as Rita Repulsa, Dr. Doom, or Skeletor. In most, their "evil" is unrecognizable to them as such. Goodness requires that self-recognition.

3/For that same reason, truthfulness comes from learning to recognize when you're lying to yourself, distorting reality to fit narratives you hope for--various forms of self-deception. In a willingness to draw out a lie from vague self-awareness, you're truthful in the admission.
