The Anak Krakatau eruption has reminded me of some old photos my dad took back in the early 1940's while stationed in (what was then) the Dutch East Indies, including one of the aforementioned volcano.
It's been pointed out to me that these photos must be quite unique, as no-one else was really monitoring Indonesian volcanoes from the air at this time. If you or someone you know (geologist, volcanologist, historian) are interested in the images, please get in touch.
