About a week before the health emergency was declared, I began working on building a cloud hosted ERP system designed for managing Guesthouses.
I have not been able to focus on it for a couple of weeks now and I thought I will start this thread to help me keep motivated.
Having provided consultations for a few guesthouses, I noticed that there aren't many reasonably priced solutions for managing the workflows of guesthouse businesses in the market which is the reason I started building, Vagary ERP from open source code of OpenERP (Odoo).
Since a large library of open extensions are available, I had hoped I could do away with just styling and mainly building system workflows as I never considered myself much of a coder, but since starting the project I have had to learn to write some scripts with Python.
The system currently has the capability to manage room bookings, restaurant reservations and point-of-sales. It can also handle various inventories, room amenities, vehicles and trip bookings. Custom views and workflows have also been designed for various user types.
Powered by the strong in-built accounting functionality of OpenERP, the build has also been customised to automatically handle the reporting of input and output GST, TGST and Bed Tax according to MIRA guidelines.
What the system currently lacks is a two-way channel manager to synchronize rates and room availability across online channels such as Agoda and http://Booking.com . There is some work left to achieve this and I will keep updating my progress in this thread. Wish me luck! đŸ€ž
