The attacks on @DrTedros are not helpful We are in the middle of a health crisis, and the @WHO needs to function, and not be distracted or undermined. Every government and institution could have done better. Time to sort that out, later.

WHO is influenced by all of its major funders, governments and charities. Certainly by the U.S., and Gates, and I have seen this first hand since the 1990s, under every U.S. President.

The @WHO often needs smoke and mirrors to lead, and balance norm setting/regulatory role with fund raising for its role in operations. Plenty of weak spots, but this is true for every global institution. Politicians, while in power, typically do not lead globally.
