They could lead armies & direct government in the hour of need. Kürmadevi, queen of king Sāmarasi, took over administration of her kingdom on her husband's death & repulsed attacks of Qutub-ud-Din. https://twitter.com/Shudra_Sanatani/status/1248940932889604096
Najika-Devi in 1178 CE led an army to repulse the attack of invading armies of Muhammad Ghori.

Javāhirdevi, a queen of Rana Sanga, died fighting at the head of her army, while defending Chittor after her husband's death.

Rajput history is full of such instances.
Rani Durgavati was ruling Queen of Gondwana from 1550 until 1564. The Rani was a princess of famous Chandela dynasty (Chandravanshi Rajput clan) of Mahoba, which had been one of great powers of India. She was born at fort of Kalinjar.

She governed her country with courage and capacity "doing great things". She fought many battles with Baz Bahadur and was always victorious. She had 20,000 good cavalry with her in battles and 1000 elephants.
Although she lost the battle with Akbar forces in 1564, she fought valiantly and never surrendered to Muslim hordes of Akbar.
