How dare the British govt try and tailor its response to the specific nation it rules, and not simply initiate that used by ... what? China? Weld the fucking doors shut? I'm happy to accept mistakes were made. I'm also ready to admit I might have made them too.
I still find it a source of some re-assurance that the one thing that characterises the errors made by the supposed fascist Johnson - and for that matter Orange Hitler over the water - was a marked reluctance to extend the power of the state over individual liberty.
And while it may very well prove to have cost lives, perhaps even very many lives, it is way too early to say yet. Certainly too early to say with the grim satisfaction enjoyed by the likes of O'Toole, who has only to twitch the reins of his Brexit hobby horse and he's off.
