Some of my family members in Pakistan haven’t done a single chore in years. They have domestic staff to make their beds, cook, clean, drive, take out the garbage & run errands for them.

Many of them are extremely privileged & don’t treat their household staff justly. My mom visited Pakistan last year and she was telling me some of the horror stories & how they treat their staff. The inequality & class difference is abhorrent.
On one hand, I feel that since there aren’t many employment opportunities for the poor/illiterate in Pakistan, at least domestic help allows them to make a living. But at the same time, they deserve to be treated with honour and dignity. They deserve to be paid fair wages.
Their employers should send them to the same prestigious schools as their kids and help break the cycle of poverty. That’s the very least they owe them. & yes, most of them can afford it.
The recent case with Maria B & her husband exposed the servant culture in Pakistan. They think of them as disposable beings. There are countless stories of sexual exploitation, abuse & child labour, but it’s so normalized & no one really cares.
I was listening to sh. Yasir’s day of judgement series & he was speaking about accountability on that day. Since Allah is the Most Just, even animals will be brought back to life and scores will be settled.
“The rights of justice will be restored to their people on the Day of Resurrection, even between the hornless and horned sheep.” - Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
If even horned sheep that attacked hornless sheep will be held accountable for being unjust, what about us humans... especially with the logical reasoning and the responsibility of being a successor on earth being given to us?
We need to fear Allah in our mistreatment of people.
