/ @Mets: Yesterday you lost one of your biggest fans. In 1986, when the Mets met the @RedSox in the World Series, @NBCNightlyNews set out to do a feature on each team's hugest fan. In ALL of NY, who did they find? Eddie Acerbo of Pearl River, NY, one of the @FDNY's "bravest."
/ @NBCNews crews filmed him watching games at home & even followed him as he walked his daughter Mary down the aisle at her wedding. At the wedding reception, NBC filmed him as he snuck away from the dance floor to watch & celebrate his beloved @Mets in an adjoining space.
/ @MLB opening day was supposed to be March 26, 2020. We all know that didn’t happen. Four days later, on March 30, 93-year-old Eddie Acerbo began to fail. Those who loved this gentle, steady, calm, fun & deeply good man know he didn't want to live in a world without baseball.
/ This 2015 photo shows Ed Acerbo at his best. Surrounded by his huge, loving family & blowing out candles on a @Mets cake. (Ed had 7 kids, 5 stepkids, 10 grandkids, 7 stepgrandkids & 1 great-grand. Every single one of them loves the @Mets.) Rest in Peace, Eddie Acerbo. #GoMets
/ Heads up, @MetsBooth, @GottaBelievePod, @NYPost_Mets, @TheMetsFanClub, @MetsFansAnon, @NYDNSports, @NYDailyNews, @NYTSports:
