ariana grande believes santa is real: a thread

let’s start off simple - ariana has two songs including the word/name «santa» in them.

both imply wishing for something from santa claus, one in which she mentions wanting him to «hurry down the chimney tonight», and the other one in which she practically begs the white-bearded man to let her know if her christmas crush wants to be hers.

ariana has A LOT of christmas music out there, and in 2015, she even decided to release her own r&b-inspired christmas ep, «christmas and chill». this was two years after the release of her first ep, «christmas kisses».

let’s take a look at some of the lyrics from these eps (not including covers):

in her song «snow in california», ariana continues to wish for things from the polar man. she begins by introducing herself, saying it’s been a while since the last time she approached him. this tells us ariana has been asking santa for various things ever since she was a child.

this is where things begin to get crazy. «christmas and chill», her second ep, is know to have some rather romantic lyrics. i have used «wit it this christmas» as an example. there is a theory that ariana has written this song for her love interest she believes is real: santa.

this shows in «true love», a song inspired by the old tale «12 days of christmas». ariana takes us with her on a christmas journey where her lover continuously gives her presents. what is santa known for? giving people presents.
