How I Managed to Travel Abroad and See Troye Sivan Live Without My Parent's Knowing. (a thread)

Okay so let's start from the beginning. Lil ol' me sitting in my bedroom seeing that troye had uploaded a video to his youtube channel -which rarely happens anymore- so ofcourse I was hyped. mind you this was post bloom's release. anyway, troye was announcing his bloom tour

and ofcourse me being in a third
world country, with conservative parents I was like ugh I wish I could see him but I know I wont. so I just sunk into my bed as usual.

fast forward a couple of months and Troye announces European tour dates, and I look at my academic schedule and it seems that one of the shows is just ONE day after my winter break. so I was like okay maybe I can miss a day or two of school. ofcourse it was all wishful thinking-

-at this point because my parents never agreed to anything. So a couple of days later my parents are in a good mood and were all out together as a family and I drop the bomb. "Dad, I wanted to ask you if I could travel abroad on my own this year considering its my senior year."

and I was genuinely shocked when there wasn't even an argument. him an my mom looked at each other and they agreed right there and then. they told me they think it would be a great learning opportunity for me to learn how to take care of myself alone. ofcourse I was PUMPED.

with the tour dates set, and my parents on board I start my visa application process to go to Ireland, UK. I spend multiple weeks gathering the right papers and filling out forms and I turn everything in. and so it was simply a waiting game. until the wait was over...

I check my email as I do every morning because Im excited af and I get the most HEART WRENCHING feeling when I see that my visa was declined. All my plans go to shit and I just remember being CRUSHED. I totally gave up and said it was god's will. My dad told me he would still-

-let me try again in the spring for another country and I shrugged it off and told him it wasnt gonna happen. I spend a few weeks accepting defeat and I had genuinely lost hope at that point. I was never seeing Troye. until...

Months pass the european leg of the tour ends, asia dates release and Im staring at my academic calendar once more and this ONE show in Singapore on May 3rd is PERFECT for my spring break vacation so I didnt even have to miss any school days. So I half heartedly ask my-

-dad if I can apply for a visa to singapore. He says yes because he had told me hed let me try again. now when I say this was the most complicated visa of my life. dude I struggled to get everything right but eventually I handed in all the papers and then came the day to wait.

a few weeks pass by, and one BEAUTIFUL morning. I wake up, check my email and find that my VISA WAS FUCKING ACCEPTED. my dad was back in saudi arabia and my mom and sister werw there with him so I was home alone in egypt so I INSTANTLY JUMP AROUND AND CALL MY DAD.

he congratulates me and we book hotels and flights right away. at this point I didnt have tickets to the bloom tour yet and I had no idea how I was gonna get them. but I had money saved up about 3K and I knew I wanted Category 1 tickets. and so I asked my friend @RolaIsUndefined

if I could use her dad's credit card to help me buy the tickets and she gracefully agreed because shes amazing and so I told her which seat I wanted and she went online and bought it for me and I paid her in cash and so my parents knew nothing. at this point im counting the days.

I was set to see my favourite artist of all time LIVE with category 1 tickets. I WAS EXALTED. and so approach April 23rd, I get my bags packed I get everything ready, I took a shitload of cash from my dad to transfer into singapore dollars when I got there, and so on April 25th..

I went to Cairo International Airport and boarded a flight to Singapore with a transit in Jeddah. NOW WHEN I TELL YOU THIS WAS THE BEST FLIGHT OF MY LIFE. this was a jumbo plane with so much leg room and the seats were so fuckign comfy and this was economy. it gets better...

I was getting tired on the plane so I decide to check out what music they have on the on-flight screen. AND LO AND BEHOLD THEY HAD BLUE NEIGHBOURHOOD ON SAUDI ARABIAN AIRLINES, they also had trench by twenty one pilots so that was also exciting. okay so this was a 13 hour trip

so I decided I wanted to watch a movie so I was excited to see they had crazy rich asians cuz id never seen it before. and you can imagine my shock when I found out the MOVIE WAS BASED IN SINGAPORE LIKE WHATA SJDJSJSJSJDHSH

anyway I get to singapore and I swear it was like I arrived at heaven heres a video of the landing:

and ofcourse the inside of the airport was just as beautiful

but anyway Im going on a tangent but yeah I arrived in Singapore on April 26th and the Concert was on May 3rd so I had a couple of days to explore the GORGEOUS country to singapore. (Ill make a seperate thread about that later) but fast forward through some AMAZING days in SG

and its May 1st. I meet one of my first ever twitter troye stan friends ever IRL and thats @outerspacemun WE HAD SO MUCH FUN TOGETHER we went thrift shopping (she got a cool ass black and purple shirt) and we walked around in gardens by the bay and took some AMAZING pics

oh and she got me the MOST SPICY PIZZA EVER, we ate some more food and I had rice cakes for the first time ngl they were bomb. and then came the time to start the ACTUAL FUN. we take the subway to changi airport and we go to this amazing building called the jewel

its this huge mall in the middle of the airport and its GORGEOUS and thats where we meet @flowerfeastin nisa. we have some food and bully mun for a bit and then we meet the third gang member, VIOLETA @aficherry and we all book tickets to see Avengers Endgame together

it was my first time but it wasnt mun's and nisa's so they were crying from minute one. anyway I cry my way through that masterpiece of a movie and we go and book a room in something called Yotel Air. its basically an in-airport hotel thats like, pods. (more in replies)

so we spend the night and mun has this plan to make a cute ass scrapbook to give to troye with messages from fans and stuff so I got my markers with me and we were supposed to start work. pfft I fell asleep in 2 seconds mun worked on it for a bit and then violeta also fell asleep

nisa helped mun to try to dye her hair purple, THAT SHIT FAILED AHDHSJJSKSKS, anyway, we were staying overnight at the airport to try and meet Troye when he lands in singapore. so we basically spent the entirety of May 2nd running around from terminal to terminal looking at all

the flights coming from manila (the previous show) but to spare you a long and dissapointing day we didnt end up seeing him only ONE person in the whole airport saw him. the rest of us were at the wrong gate. it was okay though I was still seeing him live.

so we go to my hotel room on bencoolen street and we sleep and wake up early in preparation for the big day and so we were on our way to see Troye.

on the way we walked into a store and got wigs and a rainbow sash for me, and we walked through a mall where I got my beloved black cross bag that i still wear everyday to everything. It was 13 singapore dollars which is like 250 egp.

ANYWAY WE GET TO THE STAR VISTA which is the mall where troye was performing in the Star Theatre (capacity roughly 6000) me and @enokayy Kayleigh get subway and we all wait for the theatre to open. at this point in breathless im genuinely at the verge of DEATH

the theatre opens we print out our physical tickets and we go in and my heart is PUMPING.

we all wait in the outside area and we get merch, me being the rich kid I am I got 2 tshirts and a hoodie and we SAID HI TO TROYES MOM. and so the fated moment came. we walked into the theatre and I swear to god I was taken a back at how close to the stage I was

and so after endless squeals and excited sweating the lights dimmed and the moment came. seventeen's music started playing but troye was nowhere in sight (sorry for the shaky video I was excited af)

and thats basically it. I did it. I accomplished my dream of seeing Troye Sivan live on the Bloom Tour. here are some highlights of the concert.

I told myself I wouldnt film heaven because I wanted that song to be for me I just wanted to feel the crowd and honestly ... no regrets but I just had to show yall this view
