MORE PPE: Yesterday @MattHancock asked British businesses to come forward and help make PPE. For 2 weeks I've been reporting on how those UK businesses are desperate to help but have been ignored by the @cabinetofficeuk. They have no words. "yesterday one of our procurement directors was looking at @Screwfix gear in place of scrubs. The parallels of our mess & the US mess are very interesting. We may be on track for 40,000 deaths". THIS IS FROM SENIOR NHS LEADER IN SOUTH ENGLAND WHO I'VE SPOKE TO DAILY THIS WEEK (2)
This man's entire family work for @NHSuk His son, Junior Dr was broken last night when got home. His daughter just went to work as a 3rd year physio. Wife is a senior nurse. They live for NHS. Amazing. They ALL want to know "WHERE IS THE NATIONAL PPE DEMAND PLAN?" (3)
The DESPERATE (this word used too much on this story) need for GOWNS. I understand we're waiting for certification (CE mark) to be given to gowns made in UK. In health, liability over items used is critical and has to be in place. I'm told this sitting with @CommonsBEIS (4)
"Is there a daily report on all the gaps in PPE by trust? Is there a daily report from care home associations? What's the truth on Covid deaths outside hospitals?" Qs from NHS leader out his beloved NHS. He despairs. He's apologised for ranting and wished me a happy easter!! (5)
Also just need to add on a personal note, my mum is at work caring for Ann today. She's personally incensed by remarks on using PPE 'appropriately'. She's had to get her own, because there wasn't any 'appropriately' available. (6)
