What are your biggest no-no& #39;s and yes-yes& #39;s [???] when collaborating with others outside your lab? Please include anything from things you have learned [not] to do yourself to stuff you prefer your collaborators [didn& #39;t] do?

Off the top of my head the biggest ones are:

1/3
1. No-no: when others don& #39;t respect my skills — and this includes when I say "I don& #39;t know this" and they insist I am instead hiding something or being difficult.

2. Yes-yes: when others proactively help others, e.g., by introducing tools/ideas to facilitate collaboration.

2/3
3. Yes-yes: clear communication from the very start [and on-going throughout] like on authorship order, roles, responsibilities, attribution, repositories, file-sharing, hierarchy (why, when, and where needed).
