16th December, The Victory day (vijoy dibosh) of Bangladesh celebrated, on this day we achived our victory over the Pakistani forces in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
The Commanding officer of the Pakistani Forces General AAK Niazi surrendered with his forces to the Allied forces of India and Bangladesh, which marked the end of the 9 month-long Bangladesh Liberation War and genocide and official secession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh.
We fought the Bangladesh Liberation War against Pakistan to become an Independent country. One of the most violent wars of the 20th century, it witnessed large-scale atrocities, the exodus of 10 million refugees and the killing of 3 million people by the Pakistani armed forces.
Right After the surrender of Pakistani armed force, Most United Nations member nations were quick to recognize Bangladesh within months of its independence.
The Victory Day ritual of the gradually obtained a distinctive character with several elements: Military Parade by Bangladesh Armed Forces at the National Parade Ground, ceremonial meetings, speeches, lectures, receptions and fireworks.
Victory Day in Bangladesh is a joyous celebration in which popular culture plays a great role. The main streets are decorated with national flags.
Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho or National Martyrs Memorial is the national monument of Bangladesh is the symbol in the memory of the velour and the sacrifice of all those who gave their lives in the War of 1971, which brought independence and separated Bangladesh from Pakistan.
This day and event are also commemorated across India as the Vijay Diwas to honour Indian and Bangladeshi martyrs who laid down their lives to liberate Bangladesh from Pakistan. [END OF THREAD]
