Going to list some favourite TV adverts today. First up this wonderful faux-early 60's ad for Wheat Crunchies made in the 1990s.
The level of loving attention that went into that advert is heart-warming. This was clearly made by people that love old adverts rather than taking the attitude that "the past was shit and people were stupid", which is seen too often in nostalgia shows.
This one is for a soft drink called Quatro that launched in 1985. I absolutely loved this advert at the time, directed by Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel, who created Max Headroom and later directed a terrific remake of the film noir DOA.
Tony Hancock and Patricia Hayes advertising for the Egg Marketing Board circa 1965. The sad part about these brilliant adverts is that they were considerably better than the actual television shows Hancock was making by this point.
Not that Hancock was the only TV comedian who wound up advertising on TV. from ten years earlier, here's Harry Corbett and Sooty flogging Oxo.
